Welcome to my April 2022 Newsletter Case Presentation.
This newsletter describes in step by step detail Gina’s transition through immediate partial dentures (Mk 1) to supported definitive metal based dentures (Mk 2).

This 78 year old woman was recommended to me by one of her friend's who had heard me speak at a local Women's Institute group.

Diagnoses
* Generalised Periodontitis; Stage 4, Grade C, Currently Unstable. Risk Factors: Type 1 diabetes. 1. 16, 14, 13, 31, 32, 34, 45, 41 - hopeless prognosis

* Do nothing
* Periodontal treatment - from my colleague Dr Syed Abad, Specialist in Periodontics
* Removable partial dentures
* Implant supported fixed teeth
The clinical situation and treatment process is shown in detail below with photographs. I provided the clinical work. Sam Hesketh (Mk 1 denture) and Rowan Garstang (Mk 2 denture) provided the technical work.

A gorgeous day preparing to teach in North Carolina

A gorgeous day here in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, preparing for tomorrow's Forsyth Dental Study Club! Sitting in the sunshine in the beautiful grounds of Graylyn Estate, putting the finishing touches to my lecture, with time for the gym, a doughnut and coffee at Dough-Joe's, and a lovely walk around Reynolda Estate.

Gordon’s Complete Denture Journey: Lessons from 60 Years Without Teeth

Gordon had been edentulous for 60 years. He wore only an upper denture and never a lower. Functionally, he could chew perfectly well without one. But socially, he felt embarrassed. He wanted to look right again and to enjoy meals with his family without worry. This case shows why patient expectations, honest conversations, and perseverance are every bit as important as technical skill when providing complete dentures.
